"This is great, just great. If you liked Olympian AT ALL, you need to own To See the Lights. While somewhat less cohesive, I would say it's just as good--there are some amazing songs here. Stylistically, they don't differ from those on Olympian, but that may be a good thing, if you consider the confused mess that was Drawn to the Deep End. Anyway, highlights here include the heartbreaking Her Fifteen Years, the beautiful I Can't Decide I Se Really Loves me, and the frightening This Is Not My Crime. The idea of Gene covering I Say a Little Prayer sound scary? Well, it did to me too--but amazingly, they pull it off with great aplomb, and it's an excellent inclusion. The live versions of the songs from Olympian are substantially different from those versions, sometimes for the better and somtimes not, but they're always interesting. If I had to point out a bad aspect of this album, it would be that we here multiple versions of several songs, in both studio and live renditions (Child's Body, I Can't Help Myself, For the Dead--the second version of the latter being an unlisted bonus track with some different lyrics). While it's nice to have these, it's kinda disruptive to have them appear twice when you're listening to the album straight through (which I'm doing as I write this--Her Fifteen Years is playing right now, actually). Still, that's kinda nitpicky. This is a great collection, and an absolute must-own for anyone who liked Olympian. Order it RIGHT NOW, okay?"
