Too much Jarvi, not enough Dvorak

"Conductors usually take one of two positions when interpreting the great classics. They either play the music as written or they mess around with it. Maestro Jarvi, son of another great conductor, messes around with Dvorak's most famous symphony. His tempos are very slow and he constantly fools around with the phrasing and dynamics. If you want a New World that is different, this is the CD to buy. But I found the differences to be quite annoying. Want a great budget New World, try the version on EMI conducted by Macal. It is superb in every way."
