Not with a bang but with a whimper

"I know other reviewers seem to favour other recordings of this magnificent symphony, but this is the only one I've heard, so I have nothing to compare it too. But, Dudarova seems to do a amazing job with this piece, which must surely rank among one of the great Russian symphonies. Myaskovsky is overlooked, sadly, in the US and Europe. A shame really. This symphony, a testament to the suffering and deprivation of the post-Revolution years is stunning and moving. It wrings the life out of Time, and ends with a quite whisper of hope."
