Slavic brilliance

"A deep sombre Slavic mood imbues this fine recording from 1958. Add plenty of drama and power and the result is sensational. Orchestral playing is tight as it comes, and the music flows beautifully, all quite superb. The recording is very good indeed, with a concert hall acoustic, well done to Testament for a fine remastering. Very Russian, very compelling. Fill-ups, earlier recordings, are very sprightly and also have remarkably fine quality sound."
