"This is the first cd of a big serie, that is coming in the next years, make by São Paulo State Symphony Orchestra and Bis label exclusively of Brazilian music.
Camargo Guarnieri (1907-1993). Guarnieri was actually christened with the first name of Mozart by his poor but musically rich parents. He studied in France and the US, where Copland praised his music.While remaining absolutely to his nationalist roots, his style owes nothing to that of Villa-Lobos, being far more disciplined and neo-classical in outlook.This music is a little dissonant, with a intense and complex structure that delights in taking the listener along with it.
The orchestra is conducted by J.Neschling, the same one that recorded "Il Guarani"singed by Placido Domingos, opera of Carlos Gomes another Brazilian composer. Neschling is the musical director of OSESP a best-kept secret, the nearly world-class orchestra of Sao Paulo, that is resident in São Paulo Hall built in 1999, and where some of the most important musicians of nowadays had played, like Maazel, Masur, Abbado, Kovacevich, Oppitz, Freire, BBC symphony, Berliner, Wiener Philarmoniker...Etc. São Paulo Hall has a move-seiling that makes possible to balance the intensity of the sound, fact that improve a lot the cd record quality."
