Album Description

Dreyfus Records is proud to announce the release of Trio Sud, the third CD by the brilliant French guitarist Sylvain Luc. His two previous releases - "Duet," with fellow guitarist and compatriot Bireli Lagrene and "Sud," featuring the trio - have created an international buzz, spurred on by the gypsy new wave. An amazing technician, Luc combines a total command of the jazz guitar tradition with a deep love and understanding of world music, including that of his own Basque heritage. As on the previous release Sud, Sylvain is accompanied by the sparkling rhythm team of Jean-Marc Jafet on bass and Andre Ceccarelli on drums. "If you love guitar, not just only jazz guitar, you have to listen to this record, definitely on the best guitar CD of 2002 ( well, one of the best guitar album of the last 10 years should I even say ). Sylvain plays with such finesse and technical expertise throughout the whole album, yet keeping it easy to listen to. His acoustic tone is gorgeous, and Jafet and Ceccarelli just are perfect as always on bass and drums respectively. Try and be convinced..."

"This instrumental release has fingerstyle jazz guitar, string bass and drums. The musical ideas are fresh, ultra hip, accesible, and very pleasurable to hear. The music stands up to serious listening, but serves equally well in the background. If you love fingerstyle jazz guitar, buy this and "SUD". They are both wonderful!"
