Synopsis

Album Description
2008 four CD set celebrating the music of The Swinging Blue Jeans, the Liverpool band best known for their hit 'Hippy Hippy Shake'. Though the band had one major hit in the U.S., their recorded output is more exciting than many of the other Liverpool bands of the '60s (barring The Beatles, of course). In October 1961, Bob Wooler, the DJ at the Cavern club in Liverpool, compiled a list of the most popular rock groups on Merseyside. The Beatles were at #1, but the Swinging Blue Jeans were omitted from his ratings. Wooler wrote, "They are beyond comparison. They are in a class of their own." Another time, he referred to them as the Swinging Blue Geniuses. Initially a Skiffle group, the SBJ's transformed themselves into a wild and wooly Rock 'N' Roll outfit overnight and wowed the UK and Europe for years to come. This collection of their EMI recordings, 1963-69, features 113 tracks including 'Hippy Hippy Shake', 'I'm Gonna Sit Right Down And Cry (Over You', 'Don't Make Me Over' and many many more. EMI.

CD Reviews

Magnificant Collection!!!

"I received this collection for Christmas and I highly recommend it. So much of the great British Invasion is condensed down to a 20 track best of and it's great to hear all of the output from one of the premier bands. Not only are the hits here, but all of the album tracks for a complete overview of their recorded history. A great companion piece to "YOU'LL NEVER WALK ALONE" by Gerry and the Pacemakers, "ZOMBIE HEAVEN" by The Zombies and "I'M INTO SOMETHING GOOD" by Herman's Hermits. Here's hoping this trend continues with such unsung artists as Peter & Gordon, Chad & Jeremy and The Searchers."

Swinging Blue Jeans is one of the best groups of the British Invasion, no doubts about it.

These 4 CD's have lots of repeated songs and the songs in the fourth CD are repeated just because they are stereo.

would be different if they release the LP's on CD.

If somebody wants to buy swinging blue Jeans, buy the rockin' beat album (30 songs) or Swinging Blue Jeans at Abbey Road.

I guess Gerry and the Pacemakers and Billy J Kramer (EMI Years) are exactly the same.
