CD Reviews

Great Jazz, Great Pop, Great Music

"Buy this CD package. You will not regret it. From start to finish the music is positive, it is musical, it varies from a very few ballads to a lot of swing to a little straight ahead jazz.

I've heard this referred to as "Bacharach" style 60's music. Yes, it is orchestrated that way...Petula Clark material also comes to mind.

SoS has a definitive sound, they tell a story and it makes for great listening.

Pay close attention to "Fooled by a Smile", "Somewhere in the World", to name two good examples of classic SoS creativity and sound.

Every tune is worth a listen and all three CDs together make an easy ride on a trip or a relaxing period around the house.

Can't recommend this enough if you like music and are sick of the crap coming out of the record companies these days.

If you like rap...move along. This has a melody, orchestration and great lyrics well performed."
Enough with Breakout! Please!

"Swing out Sister is about the only popular group I can stand to listen to, and I was looking forward to receiving this collection.

The first disc is the best, with many good songs, the second disc is a washout- most of the stuff sounds like elevator music. You can listen to the entire second disc and not even remember what you heard- and nothing to make you hit the repeat button on the CD player. It's not terrible, but you keep hoping that the next song will be better.

The third disc is all remixes. Most of them are fine- except for "Twilight World" which is irritating- mostly from the stupid voiceovers.

And, as the title of this review states- enough with BREAKOUT! There are three different versions of it on this disc. Talk about beating something to death!

If you want this collection, look for it on sale somewhere- or try E-bay. It's certainly NOT worth the price they are asking for it here."
