Synopsis

Album Description
They were the first band to play Woodstock, and, some 30 years later, were the first band to have a full-length VH-1 movie made about them, but Sweetwater?s original albums have remained maddeningly hard-to-find, only excerpted on an out-of-print limited edition compilation put out by Rhino Handmade a few years back. Here, then, for the first time on CD, are the three albums they made for Reprise, each boasting photos from the band?s private archive and quotes from band members Fred Herrera, Alex Del Zoppo and Nancy Nevins?exclusively from Collectors? Choice Music!

CD Reviews

A very good and highly underrated 60's band!

"I first heard Sweetwater on FM radio back when this first album came out in 1968, and they played the classic and awesome song "My Crystal Spider" all the time. When I first heard it I had thought it sounded like Jefferson Airplane and Grace Slick singing, but then found out it was Nanci Nevins singing and the band Sweetwater. I got the album and was immediately impressed at how good this group was and the musicians, but absolutely loved Nanci Nevins vocals. This band were the first one to hit the stage at Woodstock in 1969. Tragedy struck the band with a horrible accident, a movie was made, and then they got back together to release a live CD of some of their old songs. This group was excellent and still today highly underrated. This is classic 60's rock/psychedlia/folk and an excellent album!

"Great music....takes you back to the 60's when "peace conciousness" was triggered, and I believe one of the first multi racial bands...

My favorite song on this CD is "Motherless Child"...the vocals are top notch...good old band "Sweetwater"...thanks for the inspiring music and ground breaking statements."
A great album for any collector of this era music

"This album was very unique at the time of its popularity. This group really had a tremendous blend of instruments and harmonies. Their lead singer, Nancy Nevins was a pure joy to hear. Their music reflected a lot of the social attitudes of the day. Unfortunately, I believe Nancy Nevins was injured in a car accident that damaged her vocal ability, cutting short what many thought to be the most promissing talent of the time. Buy the CD if you like great music from the 60's. If you have never heard Sweetwater you are in for a rare treat!"
