Sweet power of song - in sweetest harmony

(5 out of 5 stars)
"This is simply exquisite - a beautiful collection of elegantly performed duets culled from the German, French and English repertoire for the most part. The blend between Felicity Lott and Ann Murray is superb, enhancing the total vocal quality so that the overall presentation is magical.
There are a few little nitpicky flaws - some of the English duets are performed in twee fashion ("Sound the Trumpet" and "Trust her not" exemplify what I mean), and L'arithmetique (Gounod) doesn't really work (it sounds silly rather than child-like, and I can't fathom why the two singers decided to dump half of the original French lyrics and substitute a ghastly English translation!)... and perhaps the French pronunciation is rather English at times... but all of this is forgotten in the sheer magic of "Rêvons, c'est l'heure" and Britten's "Mother Comfort", for example.
There are many tracks on this set which will give nothing but delight to the listener.
I wouldn't be without this 2CD set. Highly recommended."
