The Best Recording of Swan Lake!

"It's Tchaikovsky at his greatest, and this interpretation of his ballet music is unparalled. It's so poignantly performed, and all four acts are amazing with the full orchestra that you can almost see the ballet as you listen. I'd know this version immediately if I heard it anywhere!

I've listened to this 2-disc "Swan Lake" all my life, and now that it's beginning to skip, I'm going to get another copy. (It was maddening to get to the 4th Act in the second CD and not be able to hear the rest!) I knew right away that I had to purchase this same version, and it's very unfortunate that the manufacturers have stopped producing this work because so many people are going to miss out on hearing it!

Get your hands on this; every other recording of Swan Lake I've heard doesn't match the beauty of the Saint Louis Symphony Orchestra's version. Everything else I've heard is too fast, or too slow, and lacks the passion I feel coming from Leonard Slatkin's conducting. There are few pieces of music that are so moving!

One note however, I don't think the music is ENTIRELY in order; at least compared to the Makarova/Dowell ballet version (which in my mind, is the best)."
