CD Reviews

"Little Voices" is fun to listen to from start to finish.
12/13/1998
(5 out of 5 stars)

"Susan Salidor's "Little Voices in My Head" is full of great music, both original and standard. "Hello" the opening song on the tape, written by Salidor, sets a light, upbeat tone that is sustained throughout. The second tune, "Give Me a Little Beso" has fun with the word "Beso" (Spanish for kiss). The song, which includes the line, "Give me a little beso, right here on my face so, I can be happy all the time" has a charming salsa rhythm that makes kids want to dance. My favorite song, however, is the "Boo Boo Blues" in which Ms. Salidor sings to her daughter about the fact that "We all have boo boos, honey, even me, and even you." My favorite standard is a modified version of Woody Guthrie's "So Long, It's Been Good to Know Yuh" which tells a bit of the history of the great American minstrel. The tape ends with "Adios," a song I'm sure is destined to become a children's classic. There's also a "hidden track" at the end of the recording, which is sure to bring smiles to listeners. All sixteen songs on "Little Voices in My Head" are great. I loved every minute of it."
