CD Reviews

Underappreciated Genius
Julian R Kelley | Oakland, TN United States | 03/17/2003
(5 out of 5 stars)

"Michael Kiske spent his youth as a heavy metal front man for Helloween, bringing with him a vocal power and charisma far beyond his years.Since departing from the band in 1993, he's quietly put out a couple of solo records that displayed a songwriting prowress only hinted at previously. Now, we have SupaRed, his new band project. His sonwriting has matured, and his vocals have tamed a bit, but he continues to construct some of the best, most intelligent AOR around. sadly, it falls mostly upon deaf ears. From the opening track, "Reconsider", to the closing "Turn it" (the only track not written by Kiske), you'll find a diverse, yet somehow cohesive landscape of songs that beats anything on FM radio these days. And unfortunately, few will ever hear it. Much of Kiske's own fan base is rejecting the album, which is too bad.It really is alot of fun.Long story short, if you're looking for power metal, try something else. However, if you just want to give a good record a fair shot, this might be for you."
Great job

"I like the album very much. It's original and very good. Each song is diferent, but they are put in a common context. The band has his own sound. Michael Kiske does his best with the voice, with his great high tones of always, but with very nice medium tones also. The other musicians do a great job too.I recommend the album to everybody, enjoy it!I've seen two bad reviews of the record, but their only argue have been that "this is not power-metal music". I think this is not a real argue for people with open mind, I like power-metal but fortunately there are more kinds of music, in this case, Supared is a very original band which is very dificult to clasified, maybe melodic rock whith some metal touchs, with some pop..., for me is only good music."
What about your fans mike

"holy hell, Kiske continues to just turn his back on the fans and music that made him famous. this is pathetic....Kiske do a Helloween reunion, or a metal cd befoe you ruin your career ever further if thats possible."
