Synopsis

Album Description
One of the longest-standing US Thrash / Black Metal bands, Summon dates back to early 1991. Through the years Summon went on to release 1995's Fire Turns Everything Black, 1996's Dark Descent Of Fallen Souls., 1999's critically acclaimed Baptized By Fire, 2001's No Thoughts From The Sky, and 2003?s masterpiece And the Blood Runs Black. Summon return with their sixth studio album and most accomplished work to date. Fallen is a collection of immediately memorable thrash anthems that do not sacrifice intensity. The album displays a side of Summon that sets them ahead of the thrash/black/death metal competition: songs. Recorded at Hellion Studios (Cephalic Carnage) and featuring gatefold cover art by Petagno (Motorhead), Fallen is the culmination of 15 years of writing, recording, and touring that undeniably proves Summon are America's premier Thrash Metal act! The first 5,000 units of Fallen come with free bonus DVD featuring Dolby Digital 5.1 surround sound mix (plus DTS surround) of the entire album (a first in Heavy Metal History) and 3 Videos!

CD Reviews

Douglas Hernandez | 09/05/2005
(4 out of 5 stars)

"It is easy to describe records like this, but imagine how difficult it must be for the band itself to pull off such impermeable material with such tightness as it is displayed here. But what Summon accomplishes is the ability to sound extremely natural in their playing. Not a moment goes wasted here, the attack is full of ferocity and how could it not be when you're playing black metal with thrash influences? Summon is far from being a retro band though. They've been around for 15 years, they've seen the rise and decline of the scene and they know the only way to last in a saturated place is to stick to your guns without compromise. Fallen is a true testimony of extreme metal at its finest, bringing the best of modern black metal mixed with `80s segments, which shows their love for the old-school. Many bands release at some point in their career their own version of Reign in Blood, some deliberately, some unintentionally. I guess you can say this is Summon's own version, unintentionally of course, not to mention their best hour. Forget about the New Wave of American Heavy Metal, for this is the best representation of modern American Metal at its most deadliest and punishing."
