Synopsis

Album Description
Who dares to defy the propaganda thunder-godz of mainstream hype? Who openly opposes the fashion wad fit of so-called "pop culture?" AND, who conforms to nothing other than the art of creative chaos? SUGARFIST, the only funk jazz ska disco death metal circus this side of planet Earth. Their 4th release on Sling Slang Records is a masterful blend of insight and energy, a unique and humorous spew of colorful yet disturbing sounds. Their live performance has been proclaimed as the funniest and most entertaining sideshow around. With influences as diverse as Mike Patton, Fishbone, Frank Zappa, Captain Beefheart, Hal Russell, and Sun Ra, this latest offering from Sugarfist secures their spot as one of the most original bands in New England.

CD Reviews

This is the ultimate sugarfist album....

(5 out of 5 stars)

"As anyone else who has seen them live, I enjoy their live performances greatly. "Johny Cakes" has great energy on stage and Jenn has a tremendous voice. The musicianship is purely ingenius. But these excellent attributes have never really been captured before in any of their recordings...until now. Unlike their previous records and even their live bootleg, this recording captures their live energy fabulously even though it is a studio recording. It is the best collection of sugarfist songs ever found on any of their discs, even though it is missing the classic "rock star" which was found on "the rock star chronicles" and their live bootleg. However this record does feature far superior versions of "hackneyed" and "new language" in comparison to the bootleg as well as many songs I had never heard before, all of which never failed to impress me. The only disappointment on the whole record is that "Gypsy holiday" was slightly better on the bootleg disc. Otherwise this record is flawless. Best of all it features the best version of sugarfist's most WHOMPING song ever, "Pledge your Allegiance." This song is absolutely tremendous live and this recording is so much better than the one on the bootleg. Also on this version they bash Mr. Bush even harder by taking quotes (lies about Iraq having nuclear weapons) of his and distorting them to add even more triumph to this tremendous political anthem. Musically it is extremely powerful and just like the first time I heard it live at their show at the woodbridge carnival, it sent chills down my spine. This song is just awesome...Just for this song alone this record is worth the money. New songs such as "Big Kiss" and "Hippies Riot Act" are special treats for fans as well as they show that sugarfist is making new songs that are consistently at that high standard that we have come to expect. This album is a must have for any sugarfist fan, and for those who have loved them live but have been disappointed by the sound of their previous records...you will be in for a pleasant surprise. This record sounds awesome. BUY IT!!!!"

"I'm a high school radio dj and i play their music all the time. The best song is the first one, "the big kiss". If your looking for heavy head banging metal, go look at something else. But if your open to this kind of music, buy it now."
