And you thought it was safe to go back to normal.

(5 out of 5 stars)

"Check out this rebel yell of a band from NYC now based in Chicago stirring up musical chaos. This one woman/three man crew - Simi, Jason, Scott & Danny are here to make noise and bring on the ruckus. Their latest five song EP efforts are laced to let out steam from your brutal day. Influences cross paths between Motley Crue, The Runaways, Joan Jett, Tamar-Kali and Lita Ford. The sexy lead vixen Simi comes completely packed with energized vocals and sex appeal while her band mates rip to shreds with electric riffs and slides accompanying punchy drum licks and bass kicks.

This disc is not for the fainted hearts mopping their tears on the floors but rather an energetic, back to basics, living again in a less than perfect world. Two songs top it off with that feeling, `Mr. Man' and `Down and Out,' both powerful and energy-driven. With a charged up anthem from a female seeking refuge from a relationship (Mr. Man), this catchy hook/chorus:

"Hot Night/ Bright Light/ 3 in the morning/ oh my god/ I'm outta of my head/Hot Night/Bright light/6 in the morning/Here we go (suckers)/and going to bed"

"Down and Out" starts out with a series of questions: "Are you happy/Are you sad/Misguided/On the plan/Are you losing the fight/You feeling the night." Another song "Getcha Good" is a cool calculating sliding with feisty and freaky guitars preparing you for the jump off.

My favorite stand out is "Shake Your Heart" mid flow guitar loops bringing a cosmos complexity of Nirvana and Hendrix surf ride. Which concludes the last track, "Tricky Love," a distorted love and war theme by someone who wised up and fights back with a vengeance. I don't want to give away the rest of the story - it's only the beginning. You'll feel it when you hear it.

And that leaves me with my first impression of strength and confidence captured in their hard rock/punk style by somebody who's been on the scene for quite some time and is here to stay.

Suffrajett's EP is an appreciation of the group's edginess and sex appeal and it paves the way for what will hopefully be a long succession of equally strong hard rock themes/anthems.

In other words, you don't have to be an angry chick to appreciate it. Right on to grrrl power!"
