Fantastic-- Fabulous

"Glad to see this one rereleased. Featuring the wonderful, underrated Ms. Raney & with touching, beautiful arrangements by the late Dick Shreve, this album for me rates with Sinatra's "September of My Years" & Joe Derise's "House of Flowers" as an album about an looking back on life from the perspective of years. SR's version of "Here's to Life" is even better than Shirley Horn's I think, and "Looking Back' & the medley or "Young & Foolish/When the World Was Young," "Over the Rainbow" & others are great. It's true she sings here with a bit more vibrato than her '80's albums-- or certainly the '60's ones-- but the control and attention to lyric are absolutely first class IMO. It's true many ballads; but a few upbeat ones to temper the mix too. Great, great stuff."
