A true classic... available again!!!

"Back in the early 80s, this gem found its way into the vinyl racks for about, oh..... five minutes! Then Mercury dumped the band. They made one more album and imploded. I saw the Suburbs live twice. The first time was as an opening act for Iggy Pop at a small club in Madison, Wisconsin. The second time was as they were winding their way back thru the west at a little bar in Greeley, Colorado. Both shows were fine, but what I will always remember the band for is a post-gig discussion I had with a kind and personable Blaine John Chaney, and one of the finest rock records ever recorded: LOVE IS THE LAW. Everything came together on this album. The band is hot. The tunes are great. The production is supurb. This album is easily one of the finest examples of American music in the 80s. It's a great thrill to find out it has been released on CD. I can now retire my worn out vinyl."
The Album that should have made them known in your suburb

"If you were to play a few albums defining American New Wave in the 1980's LOVE IS THE LAW could be the definitive one.

The cover itself is beautiful and verrry cool.

"Love Is The Law" is one of the 80's should-have-been-biggest songs. It's soo damn infectious!

"Rattle My Bones" was recently re-recorded by the group for a Target ad and it's not hard to gauge why.

It's one of their catchiest numbers as well as get your attention from the beginning.

"Monster Man", "Perfect Communist" and "Rainy Day" are Ferryesque

new wave classics.

Buy this album if only for the title track, "Rainy Day" and "Perfect Communist".

The Suburbs deserve to mentioned in the same breath as The Replacements, Prince and Husker Du when mentioning

Minneapolis' finest!

Love Is The Law!!!"
Could it Get Any Better

"I will say I am a little biased. I grew up with the Suburbs. As a teenager they directed me to a world of music I had never seen. Opening the doors to punk, grunge, and alternative music before grunge an alternative were even well know forms. But can you categorize The Suburbs as any of these or even as rock? I say no. They are there own eclectic and enthralling mix of all forms. Just check out their Chemistry Set CD - you'll get the picture. But I digress - the Love is The Law CD contains two of my favorite songs by any band ever. They are Rattle My Bones for its delicious lyrics and Love is The Law for the way it just get under your skin and stays. I could go on and on however I will just end by saying - love is still the law!"
