"I admit, I like the album. But I can't shake the feeling that I'm listening to some sort of linkin park early demo. That is my first impression.

They lost their lead guitarist, and maybe because I know that, I think the guitar work is lacking on this album. Everything else is pretty good.

Don't compare this to their first album, but on its own, it does well."

Better than the first

"When I bought In Due Time a couple of years ago, I couldn't wait to hear more music after playing the CD over and over again. There were just so many catchy guitar rhythms and the lyrics fit so well with the style that Submersed plays. When I heard of the second CD being released, I had thought that they might have changed their sound. It was apparent that they not only kept a similar sound that we all love from them, but they got even better as a band.

Submersed's second CD Immortal Versus tops their previous release In Due Time. The melodies, and lyrics are better and the songs are very powerful and at the same time are just awesome to listen to. Trust me, you will find yourself playing this record over and over again once you buy it. Any Submersed fans out there need to buy this record and for people who are thinking about giving them a try, don't hesitate, this is a record everyone should enjoy.

There are a few tracks that stand out such as Over Now, Rewind, Better Think Again. However every track is great. A+ for sure and I am betting these guys will get even better as time goes on."

"Submersed are an awesome band, and this album is even better than their previous offering. Highly recommended if you are a fan of bands like Breaking Benjamin, Alter Bridge, Taproot, Evans Blue, Dark New Day (as I am). Great vocals, pounding drums and face-melting guitar licks. I would kill for this to show up in Rock Band."

"I bought "Immortal Verses" with high expectations...after listening for a while, I had to do some research on the web, because it sounds like a completely different band. Gone are the MANLY vocals of "Due Time"...gone is the NARLY lead guitar of "Due Time"(granted, their lead guitarist quit)...gone is the powerful studio mix(everything is way subdued)--I have to turn my stereo twice as high on "Imm. Vers." to get the same effect as "Due Time"...I really hope the band comes back around to their original sound...that's what set them apart! Now they sound like they're playing to a bunch of junior high girls(same mistake Nickelbak made)! I can't believe the rave reviews this new album is getting! Hello Somebody!!!"

Sophomore Slump?

"I was completely amped for the release of this album. Submersed is a great band. (Deep down, they just need to find themselves again.) In Due Time, their debut album, is definitely among my most frequently played CDs.

When I recieved this, I must admit I was extremely let down. It's hard to differentiate between the tracks because most of them sound very similar, the vast majority of the tracks are slow and some have very unattractive tunes, and the lyric quality is much lower than what I've come to expect.

Donald Carpenter doesn't exibit nearly as much of his vocal talent as in the first album, but the instrumental music is just as solid as ever, despite the loss of the original lead guitarist.

If you like slow, mellow rock music, this might be for you. If you want the hard-hitting experience that In Due Time provided, you should look elsewhere.

A few tracks that stand out, or that I prefer, are:

#1 - Better Think Again - The first single. I wasn't fond of this one upon first hearing it, but it has definitely grown on me. 9/10

#4 - Over Now - Best song on the album, if you don't want to buy the entire album, I'd suggest downloading this one. (Legally, of course.)10/10

#8 - Sarah & Johnny - Interesting lyrically, and overall a solid tune. 8/10

#10 - Wonder - Bit repetetive, but also a good track. 8/10

#11 - Rewind - Another good-but-not-great song. Catchy though. 8/10

#12 - Answers - It's a semi-slow song, but it packs a punch, and is also very catchy. 9/10

Overall: I would call it a minor sophomore slump. A good attempt, but it doesn't compare to In Due Time. Then again, few bands can match their first album with their second.

If you are a fan, I'd say pick this one up. If you're new to Submersed, buy In Due Time first.
