Live at the Jazz Standard documents two exciting nights of exhilarating, soulful quartet jazz with the Stryker/Slagle Band at Manhattan?s Jazz Standard in March 2005. In a program of eight hard-swinging originals and one Gershwin ballad, the band again confirms its status as one of the most dynamic instrumental jazz ensembles on the scene. Dave Stryker was voted a "Rising Star" guitarist in the 2004 Down Beat Critics Poll, and the Stryker/Slagle Band was voted one of the "Rising Star" Acoustic Groups. Dave Stryker?s credentials as sideman include stints with Brother Jack McDuff, Stanley Turrentine, Dizzy Gillespie, Freddie Hubbard and singer Kevin Mahogany. Steve Slagle?s impressive credits include collaborations with the Machito Orchestra, Woody Herman, Lionel Hampton, Joe Lovano and the Mingus Big Band.
