CD Reviews

A Sleeper CD Indeed
G. J Wiener | Westchester, NY USA | 02/16/2003
(5 out of 5 stars)

"This CD definitely falls into the category of "Hidden Gem". Loaded with fresh arrangements and spunky instrumentation, Struttin' Our Stuff is possibly no definitely the best solo release by a Rolling Stone band member. Some of the songs are jazz, others are blues, and there certainly is a dose of rock n roll to satisfy your soul. The guest vocals of Georgie Fame, Beerly Skeete, and others add plenty of depth to this collection. There are a few moments when Bill Wyman gets a vocal and in small doses his stylings are certainly more than passable. Can't Get Enough Of That Stuff and Going Crazy Overnight are CD highlights as Bill's voice works well with the arrangments. Special appearances by Eric Clapton, Max Middleton(Jeff Beck's phenomenal Blow By Blow CD), and Peter Frampton are certainly worth noting. Truthfully it rates between four and five stars but I'm going to round it up to the five because it deserves more notoriety than its been getting."
Bill's 2nd Career Off To Great Start
G. J Wiener | 12/29/1999
(3 out of 5 stars)

"Everyone thought he was nuts for leaving the Stones, but Bill shows that there is more to life than being a Stone. Thankfully, Bill's original compositions are few - he learned his lesson with the solo albums he released during his tenure with the Stones. Instead, Bill fills this disc with old blues, jazz, and rhythm & blues numbers performed by a collection of crack musicians. Bill sings a few tunes (unfortunately) but they're tolerable. The disc makes one ready for the next two in the planned trilogy."
STONE ALONE BILL WYMAN GATHER'S NO MOSS & RIP'S THE STONES!
Jay Siekierski | STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. USA | 12/10/2002

"Former Rolling Stones founding member that `Stone Alone' bassist Bill Wyman is back in action with a very cool new album
Bill Wyman & The Rhythm Kings Struttin' Our Stuff on Velvel Records. This new CD is a must for every fan of Bill's and
the Rolling Stones! He has assembled a stellar cast of musicians alongside himself and the 12 tunes on this first release (part of
a 3 part trilogy) covering some of his favorite songs from the 20's-70's along with some new originals in that rootsy vein isSPLENDID! This is one of the best releases I have heard in '98.Without any questions, Bill's bass, vocals, songwriting
arranging & overall production skills are solid. Highlights on this CD include: "Stuff," "Walking On My Own," remakes of the
Rolling Stones "Melody" and Creedence Clearwater Revival's "Green River" are primo. The overall production is pure &
simple. THIS CD BREATHES LIFE! Amongst some of the guest musicians lending a riff or voice here and there are EricClapton, Peter Frampton, Georgie Fame, Albert Lee and Beverly Skeete best known for her voice as background vocalist
for R&B legend Chaka Khan. This girl WHIPS the vocals on a number of tunes. Horns are also featured on some cuts and
long time Rolling Stones sideman Bobby Keys adds his sax on the very smart "Motorvatin' Mama". I think I have said enough
"STUFF" about this new release. Now find out for yourself and pick it up. You will be surprised to the max! A MUST!"
