CD Reviews

Laid Back AOR with Goran Edman on Vocals
Justin Gaines | Northern Virginia | 05/08/2006
(3 out of 5 stars)

"Transition is the second album from Swedish AOR group Street Talk. Led by vocalist extraordinaire Goran Edman (Glory, Kharma, Yngwie Malmsteen), Street Talk serves up 10 ballad heavy AOR tracks, all of which are quite warm and melodic. Transition is a very laid back album, and may not appeal to those who expect some harder rocking material. Still, Edman has the kind of voice that can convince you that listening to an album full of ballads isn't necessarily a bad thing!

Overall, Transition is a good album. Like Edman's prior band Glory, there are a couple of songs in which the translation from Swedish to English results in some very cheesy lyrics (see Energizer Bunny, which was probably cheesy in Swedish as well). Still, this album should appeal to most old school AOR fans, as should Street Talk's excellent follow-up album Restoration, which features Open Skyz/Valentine singer Hugo alongside Edman on vocals.

NOTE: The Japanese import of Transition features one bonus track, an instrumental piece called I'll Always Remember. It's a nice addition, but may not be worth the (much) higher import price.
