CD Reviews

A beautiful CD of intensely spiritual music
C. P. Cooman | Cambridge, MA USA | 07/22/2008
(5 out of 5 stars)

"This thematically conceived CD release shows Meira Warshauer as a superb composer of deeply spiritual music. Though inspired by her own Jewish faith, Warshauer achieves something universal in these works, which will have great appeal to any listeners interested in new concert music of great beauty and profound dimensions.

"Shacharit" (a personal musical treatment of the Sabbath morning service) and "Ahavah" (Love) are both large-scale works for soloists, chorus, and orchestra. "Like Streams in the Desert" is an orchestral overture inspired by Psalm 126, and is a searching (though ultimately festive) piece depicting return from exile.

Performances by Kirk Trevor and the Slovak Radio Symphony Orchestra are first-rate."
