"As any conductor knows, the Rite of Spring is a technical challenge more than an interpretive one. Probably why there are so many fine ones out there. This Horenstein is easily the most magical and atmospheric Rite of Spring around--shares my top spot with, of all things, an old recording with van Beinum and the Concertgebouw which might be the most exquisitely played Rite of Spring of all time. Plenty of others are excellent but these two are transcendent!"
