CD ReviewsEerily compelling Nick Green | UK | 12/21/1999 (4 out of 5 stars) "You might hear this album once and think, 'nice', before putting it back in your CD rack. But you will take it out again a couple of days later, and find yourself listening to the whole thing again. Then suddenly it might become the only thing you listen to for a while. Because this music, while apparently sparse and subtle (it's mainly keyboards with a scattering of guitars, behind an unearthly female voice, and no drums in sight) must have something magical woven into its baroque architecture. There are songs you can sing along to, and may want to play over and over... and then there are large tracts that you can barely remember once they've passed you by. However, they will spring up in your brain unannounced in the middle of a busy day, and make you wonder just where they came from. By the time the last deep piano note falls into place, you really do feel like you have woken up from a dream.Clive (keyboards) Nolan's side-project is bound to appeal to fans of the bands Arena, Pendragon, and their ilk, but should also touch a nerve with lovers of chill-out, ambient, and 'New Age'. There's a great deal more depth and substance here, however, that you usually find in those genres. (Amazon.com should note that there is a sequel, as yet unavailable on this site, which is even better)."
