CD Reviews

Sixty minutes is not enough to really do justice!
James Davisson | McDonough, Georgia USA | 06/11/2000
(5 out of 5 stars)

"This 1987 release from Drew Arnott and Darryl Kromm was a "greatest hits" effort by Strange Advance. Included in the selection is the song "Worlds Away", which released in 1982, is a fantastic piece. Thier first big hit "She Controls Me" is also on the album and has a great beat. The third big hit, which earned them a Gold record in Canada was "We Run" which is one of my favorites.Other songs such as "Home of the Brave" and "Love games" add to the mix with a sound that only S/A could do."

"Excellent mix of melody and rythm. Synthisizers create great mix of sounds. From songs like "Worlds Away" and "She Controls Me" the album is sure to please."
Most underrated band of the 80's, next to Ultravox,Japan, ymo

"This band is a cross between The Cars and The Tubes (latter years). They offer incredable depth of composition that can be compared with Ultravox with a little less dramatic effect.Thoughtful lyrics and excellent sound textures that push the synthpop envelope as it existed in 82-85."Home of the Brave" is the best effort- downright inspiring melody.this and "worlds away" are its signiture tunes.try to find their second album as its the best. This music will grow on you please give it a chance.all the other tracks are hits that never were, probably due to poor promotion and the band barely toured in the states."
