CD Reviews

Stormin' Norman.....Still stormin'
Linc Davis | New Jersey | 06/22/2000
(5 out of 5 stars)

"I've been playing this CD for about a week now and the tunes are fresh and infectious. "The Island song" is a solid toe tapper for the summer. Stormin's blending of island flavor, blues and rock give the CD a pleasant listing feel. Sometimes familiar, like your favorite old jeans...but still a few surprises. I find myself humming the tunes when the music's not even playing. The album also boasts a fantastic rouster of all-star players. Benard "Pretty" Purdie on drums, Tommy LaBella on Sax, Desi Norman on Vibes and Steel drums and Buddy Savino on Bass. Too many great player to list here, but all top notch on their instruments. Add to this some of the most soulfull backgroud vocals to come along in quite awhile, thanks to Lew Longo's arranging brilliance. Pam, Delores and Layanne just made me want to sing along..so much soul. This ablum has the true "Jersey Sound" so many have tried to imitate but always seem to fall way to short. I've grown up here in NJ and have heard it all. If you want a solid Cd that you can play over and over without ever geting tired of hearing the same material.......this is your best bet. I give this a five-star rating...and you sure can dance to it!"
There's a storm on the Jersey Shore

"I bought this CD at the Jersey Shore. It's a great variety of music and musicians. Bernard "Pretty" Purdie still has it on drums! His tracks are wonderful! From NJ Rock & Roll to blues, New Orleans music and sentimental ballads, I think it's great! I fell in love with Stormin' Norman!"
