"Karen Stever is an artist I recently discovered through the social networking website Myspace. PLAYGROUND ISOLATOR! is Karen's debut album. I would say her music is hard rock with subtle hints of industrial music. I cannot compare Karen with any other singer because she has her own distinct voice. I will be the first to admit that the album did not take to me right away but after several listens, I grew to love it. The music sounds even better when the stereo is cranked up. All of the songs are loaded with aggressive guitar riffs and a thunderous rhythm section. It is obvious that it is Karen's voice is front and center. None of the instruments takes precedent over her vocals. My personal favorite song is "Dream Baby Dream". I really like how Karen starts singing off softly and then gradually evolves into full blown wailing. I really recommend to anyone to go to Stever's Myspace page where you can order from her personally a copy personally signed by her. It is a real treat. Oh and the shipping is quite fast."
