"East Meets West is for patient listeners who appreciate a truly good composer. Steve Kimock is much more than just a flashy lead guitar man. He is a legitimate composer who knows how to write an actual 15-20 minute guitar concerto, without repeating himself more than is absolutely necessary to establish a melody. Be forewarned that not many of these songs jump right out of the starting block with blazing speed and catchy intros. You have to sit back and let the songs run their course before they really start building up. But all of this is a good thing, because the songs do in fact build up to ultra-dramatic highs that can only be created through contrasts of hushed dynamics and high peaks. Steve Kimock's other live CD, Live in Colorado, might even be better. You might have to go to the actual band's website to get it."

"Kimock's music can be listened to in many ways: there's always enough of a groove to dance to, ambience to space out/meditate to, with always thoughtful and creative arrangemnts and improvisation for more analytical listeners. Kimock is a master at combining some 'spacey' tones and ideas with clear structures that keep his long pieces from ever becoming 'run-on'. With possibly the best rythm section in any rock-related organization, and Kimock himself adept at a wide variety of styles, this cd is a necessity."

"I've been following Steve since I first heard Zero Blues by the way get it ,its worthy!,I l like the sound of this c/d because not only does it blow doors over alot of the other c/ds he's done but just about every track sounds good, has his trademark liquid~Chimey guitar meltdown that expands and periates beautifully in mid air is evident on each and every track,he's done his homework,he always uses fresh strings at each show, and he seeks out the latest cleanest sounding gear to work with, form strings to tube amps, hes been in relixs more times than I can count, just on his knowledge of elcectronics, gears what sound compliment which guitars, his explorer guitar is sex on the ears,I mean it,seek out steve's music:Zero,Steve Kimock band,KVHW,Marajuina JazzBand,he's played with Phil and Friends,see:FLOK.ORG and KIMOCK.COM and catch the WAVE Peace Larry.
