CD Reviews

A perfect excursion into his recent works
Lethe | Milan, Italy | 07/10/2004
(4 out of 5 stars)

"Well in coincidence with the recent 35th Anniversary Tour with Yes (his acoustic material has been very well appreciated at Estival Jazz in Lugano on 8 July 2004),this stuff represents the peek of his long career as a musician and composer too!!You can listen to albums like "Quantum" or "Voyagers" and you can find also some old friends once again, like Max Bacon-ex vocalist by GTR- or Annie Haslam from Renaissance (in the track "It's All over Now, Baby Blue"),without thinking of the collaboration with Geoffrey Downes from Asia (in "Just like a woman").Nevertheless you have to be in the habit with the whole unplugged repertoire by Steve, in order to appreciate his recent production more and more...therefore-talking about his music-you might think that he has never become old, despite of his several vicissitudes also as a member of Asia, Yes or GTR,which could have brought him into the wrong way: instead he has always focused his target on a different role, as his purpose is being a classic guitarist with a fine taste and a good sense of melody as well, which can make you forget a few tiring acoustic breaks-through...to me that's enough and for sure almost the whole collection is well worth checking out at least: recommended!!"
