CD Reviews

A nice compilation
Brandon R. Lee | Charleston, SC, USA | 09/04/2006
(5 out of 5 stars)

"Stereolab has always created nice mix albums which show the flexible nature of their creative gift. The length and breadth of their continuing exploration of musical potential can be both awe-inspiring and intimdating at the same time - where does one start if you haven't been there from the begining? This mix feels like a even more edited release of "Oscillons From the Anti-Sun", bringing samples from the past and combining them with the current, but on one disc instead of three (no DVD either). The liner notes are well written, taking into account both the perspectives of the critics and the fans, and provides encouragement to those who want to delve deeper into the work of this phenomenal band. A must have for those of us who want all Stereolab releases (a next to impossible goal), and a great collection of fan favorites. Upbeat rock, mellow electronica, smooth jazz, all incorporating the famous wit and political perspective of one of the 90's greatest bands."
