"As an orchestra conductor for more than 40 years, I have long delighted in Prokofief's Peter and the Wolf. When I saw that Stephen Simon had put together a new version, I expected something better than the usual production, but I was amazed at the quality and the comprehensive coverage on this wonderful CD. Yadu is one of the best narrators in the business, and the wealth of information about the composer and the story is unrivaled. To top it off, the CD includes a strictly orchestral version, which I have not heard since the Captain Kangaroo LP of the 1960's. Bravo, Maestra Simon and the London Philharmonic! Perfect for the young musician

"This series is fantastic for starting with very young children. We listen to a variety classical works and enjoy them together, but our 3-6 year olds love this line of stories because they are so accessible to them. Each piece tells a story the children can relate to. We love that the works are narrated in an easy-to-listen-to style and then we can listen without narration and retell the story ourselves. This is the finger puppet equivalent of classical music for young children. We especially enjoy hearing the great works performed in a different genre (usually track 4). We have also used this wonderfully inexpensive The Story of Beethoven of CDs to continue our study of composers. It is a good next step to learn more about the composers and styles of music or for older children and adults."
