TRUEST REPRESENTATION OF THIS TALENTED ARTIST
Scott Gross | Largo, Florida United States | 08/18/2004
(4 out of 5 stars)

"Greatest hits collections usually leave some listener somewhere disappointed that their favorite track wasn't included in the collection... It's inevetable, maybe even probable with this compilation not having a single song from Stephen Bishop's 2nd album "BISH".

That being said, what makes this collection so fantastic is that it's the truest representation of Bishop's scope as a singer/songwriter. Usually tagged 'The Ballad Guy' by radio programmers & movie producers employing his talents for their soundtracks, this disc displays all the colors of Bish's musical rainbow...

Tracks making their CD debut on this album include the newly produced songs "Make It Last", "Un Baile Del Corazon (Dance Of The Heart)" & "Fooled By Love". These new songs are all very strong and show that Bish's singing & songwriting prowess are still sharp. Soundtrack gems also making their first appearance on CD ever are "Something New In My Life" from MICKI & MAUDE and the synth rocker "The Heart Is So Willing" from the Tom Hanks film THE MONEY PIT.

The songs the casual listener might know, "On and On", "Save It For A Rainy Day" & "It Might Be You", are included here. Big bonus points go out for the inclusion of lesser known awesome tracks like "Parked Cars", the CD premiere of Bish's cover of "Rhythm Of The Rain" and "Hall Light", an edgy rocker w/guests Eric Clapton on guitar, Phil Collins on drums & Sting on bass and background vocals! How Bish got those guys together for that session must be some story...

This is really a 5 star collection, however one star must be taken because of the omission of any tracks from the 2nd album... But what the heck, you SHOULD DEFINITELY purchase this disc anyway! Quickly!
