CD ReviewsStandarte - self-titled (Black Widow) 4 1/2 stars Mike Reed | USA | 04/27/2007 (4 out of 5 stars) "Stunning 1996 debut effort by this superb Italian progressive trio. I've seen titles from this band available online from time to time. If you like your music with plenty of floating mellotron, well played Hammond organ and plenty of life to it, then you'd likely get as much out of this import CD as I did. Most memorable cuts are the awesome "Dream Love Sequence,No.9", "A War Was Declared" and the intricate "Traumland". Line-up: Michele Profeti-organ&mellotron, Daniele Caputo-drums&vocals and Stepfano Gabbani-bass. Likely to impress fans of Atomic Rooster, Uriah Heep, Arzachel and possibly Deep Purple or Birth Control. If someone handed you a copy of this disc with no info available, then asked you to guess what year or era this CD was originally released in, you might assume it was first put out in, or around 1971-1973. It's THAT good. Recommended."
