Synopsis

Product Description
Stacie Rose?s debut CD, This is Mine, received high praise. Her sophomore effort, Shadow & Splendor, goes up a notch with producer Robert Smith (Neil Young, David Bowie, Rickie Lee Jones, Harry Connick, Jr) once again on board. The album sizzles with an all star cast: David Patterson on electric guitar (Indigo Girls, Shawn Mullins); Jeff Allen on bass (Five for Fighting, Duncan Sheik, Avril Lavigne); James Mastro on electric guitar (Phoebe Snow, John Cale); Mike Daly on electric, acoustic and pedal steel guitars (Whiskeytown) and Jeff Lipstein on drums (David Johansen); Andrew Hollander on piano and keyboards (David Johansen, John Waite); and Nancy Hess on backing vocals (Counting Crows) plus others. The 14 track CD is all original with one exception ? a cover of U2?s ?New Years Day;? and is enhanced with a music video of the first track, ?Consider Me? plus a second video feature: ?Six Minutes with Stacie Rose.? The video was directed by Dave Kittredge and edited by Barney Miller (Lenny Kravitz, Elvis Costello).

CD Reviews

Girl Driven Pop at its BEST
J. Haase | NYC | 06/01/2005
(5 out of 5 stars)

"Now this is a Pop Songstress I can get behind. She's poignant but down-to-earth, she's intelligently poetic, she's expressive and unafraid, she's flirtatious and fun....and her melodies stick in your head like a good melody should. Check out the bonus interview on the disc for some insight into this songwriter whose personal spin on personal stuff makes you wanna dig into your own journal scribbles to add some more thoughts she has inspired. I love the production...beautifully supports, and never overpowers, this girl's gifts."
If the charts were based on talent this would be #1

"LISTEN TO THIS RECORD! I loved the first one, THIS IS MINE. As a debut record I thought it hit the mark on every level. So when I popped in the new one SHADOW & SPLENDOR I stopped what I was doing and listened all the way through. All I can say is WOW, DOUBLE WOW! If you're in need of one of those records that does everything buy this one. Stacie has some great tunes here and I especially like how they remind me of songs I've loved for ages. And as a HUGE U2 fan I was not looking forward to the cover of NEW YEAR'S DAY, but she really pulls it off. Her reading of it gives the lyrics a whole new meaning. BONO if you're reading this, check it out, the girl's got something here!"
