CD Reviews

Not much new here

(3 out of 5 stars)

"I view this CD as somewhat of a rip-off. As a new release, under his own name, I expected all new music, but instead found out that about half of them are on the Hotel Costes series, which I already own. Of the "new" material, I find it either just so-so or flat out bad. If it weren't such a hassle I'd return it. The three stars are for those songs which I found good on the previous Costes CD's, otherwise it would be a ONE star review."
Should be better..but anyway 4 stars!

"From the "Master" of Costes series (dont' forget to include on it also : Saks fifth avenue) this is the first adventure as single player.
The final result it's good but not excellent.
The first thing is that he put in this cd some songs already present in the Costes series : (4 songs in 13 totally makes 30% of the cd already knows).
The others songs are ok and are quite more danceable than usual.
Double beat, Living on the Edge and Fast and Loud are probably the strongest of the CD.Funny are : Loulou de Pommery and Petit Pompopou (where the little son of Pompugnac is smiling).
Nice also the melody Clumsy ( a little contribute to pop/beat).
Well a CD that you must have if you are a "unconditionally" fan of "le roi de Paris" (as me of course!)
Pompugnac : we are waiting the next one hoping will be a five stars!"
CLOSER TO POMPOUGNAC!!!

"Monsiuer Stephane Pompougnac mixer of the illustious Hotel Costes series has finally released his own album with some very good stuff! And for those of you expecting this to be a doppelganger of the series, you're absolutely right! "Living on the Edge" has that Pompougnac flavor that has been on Hotel Costes for years. There's bossa nova (Morenito), hiphop (the title track), pop (the cute and clumsy,"Clumsy"), jazz (Loulou de Pomérane), funk (Pour Faire le Portrait d'Un Oiseau), ambient (Fog) and house (every other song in between). Of course, there are a few songs here that you may have heard on previous stuff by Pompougnac, but, OK, so what? It is his material--the fact remains that SP has proven that he is just as skilled as an artist as he is a mixer!"
