LISTEN TO G-SPOT WHILE FINDING YOUR GAL'S

"I'm actually listening to G-Spot as I write this review. I'm here to order another copy because mine is so beat up from traveling with me when and wherever I am on tour. G-Spot was one of my earlier experiences with the somewhat lesser-known 90's ambient techno artists (at least then). I've been listening to various "techno" music dating as far back as the early 70's and I agree with another reviewer's comment about a flavor of Tangerine Dream in the mix, but certainly updated. There might also be some comparisons to some of Black Dog or some of the Fax Records Pete Noonan/Mixmaster Mike Dreamfish stuff. Speedy J's work here is a 2 CD set, the 2nd disk being a live album, which I actually prefer, but they are both excellent. Sometimes music seems fit only for certain kinds of listening occasions. That's not the case here as this piece bears repeated listening, equally strong as back, mid, or foreground music. In addition, each track is strong enough as a stand alone track, yet they work collectively as a single piece, as well. I've listened to G-spot when writing and creating and found my imagination inspired; raucously partying with friends; making love to my girlfriend in many different altered and unaltered states; occupied with busywork or just relaxing and really enjoying the groove. It always works. For music to be capable of enhancing virtually any experience while never being overly intrusive nor getting lost is quite remarkable to me. G-spot is not too much this or too much that. It's the bowl of porridge Goldilocks finally chose. It's the one that's just right. But don't listen to me. Listen to G-Spot."
A shapeshifting aural joy

"It's been some time since I purchased this album, but strangely enough I keep coming back to it, as if it was some familar and fuzzy place...The soundscapes on this album range from dark trippy 303 to a hip laid back groovy ambiance... A definite keeper.--(the snippets of music available on this site are messed up... those are not the actual songs, but rather remixes of them from the second disk...)"
Electronica at its best.

"This album is electronic / dance / trance at its best. It is a very 90s sound but I was reminded of Tangerine Dream at their electronic prime. Speady J is a master of sound and uses an incredible trick of hinting at sounds from the next tracks as some are finishing. A cd that fills a room or headphones equally well, not always easy."
