Synopsis

Album Description
Revelation: 72 Not only does lightning strike twice, but when it does it tends to leave the earth below it looking rather nasty. Presenting Speak 714's The Scum Also Rises EP, the long awaited and truly scorching follow up to their 1998 debut LP Knee Deep In Guilt. The critically acclaimed Knee Deep... was often referred to by the music press as being "hardcore the way it was meant to be" and "miles ahead of anything else out there today". The Scum Also Rises proves that this was no fluke. After several line-up changes ending in a cast that would then go on to spend 1998 touring more than most bands would consider healthy or even survivable, Speak 714 hit the studio to crank out this hyper-aggressive four songer. This sophomore effort picks up where the lyrical spirit and musical fusion of rapid fire HC with genuine melody that the LP created left off, and then goes far beyond it with the introduction of an even more confrontational brand of statement and a newer more layered five piece sound. Known to raise the bar for his peers with each return effort, journeyman frontman Dan O'Mahony (ex-No For An Answer, 411, etc., etc.) continues that tradition with his most challenging effort to date. Supported by easily his most driven and road tested outfit to date, O'Mahony and company further distance themselves from the pack with this spring's darkhorse favorite, Speak 714 The Scum Also Rises. Don't be left back!
