Synopsis

Album Description
The future sound of Little Havana, Miami, usa. This full-length CD of live digital recordings from the notorious weekly at Hoy Como Ayer in Little Havana, Miami ('iFuacata!' translates loosely as Pow! or Wham!) documents the spam allstars' modern, Pan-American dance music. Seemlessly fusing funk, Miami bass, hip hop, dub, free jazz, descarga, guaguanco, and Afro-beat, " . . . an original concept in nightlife, a new Miami sound that has been described as a 'de-emphasis of the obvious', a 'controlled dissonance' and even a 'deconstructed rumba' . . ." (New York Times). Original eight-panel artwork by Lebo.

Fried Neck Bones and Some Home Fries...

"Aye, c*no...esto es verdad. This is the sho-nuff greasy dripping stuff. I mean it's for real, ya dig? Ain't no mistake about it...plus, anybody, and I mean anybody who uses samples from the comedy of Alvarez Guedes is already doing something right. But, truth be known, I've been catching these guys live at their Fuacta show at Hoy Como Ayer for longer than I care to admit. Then came Jazid shows, I/O shows, other misc. shows, what have you. Bottom line, if they are playing in Miami, I'm there. Even been up to NYC and caught them there.

But you got it all here. You got the funky salsa soul of Azuquita a la "Pura Salsa" (check out "Guarjio Bacan" and tell me I'm lyin'). You got the groove of Joe Bataan before he committed blasphemy with disco-horror. You got the dripping grease of Willie Bobo, funkiness of Lebron Brothers, Patato, Candido, Tito Puente in his (Pa'lante Straight days), etc. Brothers/sisters you got more here than I can even say. Then you got some good ol' as* bumpin' Miami Bass and groove. It don't get no better nowheres.

Finally, brother John...gotta say this. Those of you see that review down below by John Speck? Well cats/kittens, know this...he be the 'bone player for this outfit. So, that let's you know where he might be coming from. Also does a thing or two with his own outfit called Bacon Bits, but he's a dam* fine member of this group and an equally fine 'bone player. But, just wanted to let it be known since he didn't see fit to disclose it himself.

Get this now...plus, if you hadn't already known, you'll get introduced to the MAGNIFICENT artwork of LEBO...also present on the Vida Blue release which these boys joined in on. Check out LEBO's work elsewhere (like his website for instance) and tell me you won't get addicted.

Enjoy."
