CD Reviews

One of the Daddy's of Madchester influenced albums
Wickerlove | Canada | 11/02/2004
(3 out of 5 stars)

"A bit after the demise of Madchester to be called a clone, but 'The Daddy Of Them All' is perhaps one of the more stronger Madchester influenced albums. For a non-Madchester band, the first 3 songs is perhaps one of the best trio of spiced-up Madchester tunes. 'Acid House Killed Rock & Roll' is an adrenaline pumping opener, a bombardment of electronic pulses and fierce guitars. Next is 'Blowing Down the Stylus', four minutes of strobelight madness, hypnotic riffs meeting blinding intensity. Last is the catchy pop of 'Sugar Cane', with it's flirty ska-tinged riffs, falling somewhere in between radio friendly and alt-indie. There are other shining moments on this album, eg, 'March Of The Scarecrows', but generally, 'The Daddy Of The All' is one of the stronger post-Madchester influenced CD's not named Campag Velocet or Kasabian. It's really worth a listen, even for the first trio of songs, reminding one that the Madchester flame continues to burn in disguise."
Love it

"I love this album. I have never listened to another Space Monkeys album, and bought this one on a whim quite a few years ago, while still in high school and buying random albums, and have loved it ever since. Very unique compared to my normal style of classic rock and country. Of course I bought it for "Sugarcane" but there really isn't a song on it that I don't enjoy."
