Synopsis

Album Description
The title implies prog rock excess. The Gothenburg sextet's previous three albums have all been doubles, housing 20-odd tracks each, but here finally is the Pocket Soundtrack - 12 songs, no filler, all killer, this melodically overloaded, mindbending but ultimately goodtime rock band in peak form. WEA. 2004.

CD Reviews

The World Needs TSOOL
Paul G | Vancouver B.C. | 12/14/2004
(3 out of 5 stars)

"I may be biased since I shelled out $40 for the import version when it came out in October 2004, but I have to say, Origin 1 is another stellar album from one of the world's greatest and most anthemic rock bands, The Soundtrack Of Our Lives. They are on the same level as U2 or Oasis, but unfortunately, their sales do not show that because their first two albums, Welcome To The Infant Freebase and Extended Revelation were to pyschedelic and not commercially viable. But who cares about sales, when you crank out albums this mega. This is their fourth album as TSOOL, and it showcases a band at their peak in terms of producing lush melody driven rock gems with a great sense of musicianship that is largely absent in this day of Nu-Metal Rage Rockers and manufactured pop trash. They may not be terrible enough(yeah I said terrible!) to top the pop charts and that is why they are supreme. They could give it up today, and people 30 years from now will still be mystified and awed by their beautiful sound. With songs like Lone Summer Dream, Age of No Reply and A Song For The Others, how can you not be. Can't wait for Origin Vol2 which is slated for a Summer/Fall 2005 release!!!"
Orgin 1 delivers the rock goods, Swedish style
Wickerlove | Canada | 03/05/2005
(3 out of 5 stars)

"With expectations running high after 'Behind The Music', the follow-up 'Orgin 1' delivers the goods in catchy riff-oriented style. The tradeoff for less Stones-meets-Floyd is more hard-edged swagger of British trad rock bands like Oasis, Cast, and Ash. I don't know why, but the psychadelic nuances of The Bevis Frond come to mind, as well as the bouncy anthems of 70's glam. Does this make it a better album than the SOOL's breakthrough? Not necessarily. If anything, it's shows a band evolving, without straying too far away from their brand of melodic multi-coloured rock. Gone is the mind bending mysticism, enter dangerous power chords. Sweden's best musical export fails to disappoint."
Another great one!

"The latest release from the Swedish sextet is another gem. Like the previous release "Behind the Music", "Origin Volume 1" is full of superb songs that you just can't get out of your head. If you liked "Behind the Music" you will definitely like this one as well."
