Another masterpiece from The Sounds of Blackness
G. Harrison | Canada | 05/13/2008
(5 out of 5 stars)

"I have all of The Sounds of Blackness' albums and "Kings & Queens" is another brilliant collection of music. There are the long standing, appreciated Gospel anthems ("Precious Lord", "We Shall Overcome") and a wonderful cover of the classic "Be Real Black For Me", written by Donny Hathaway and Roberta Flack.

"Message From The Movement" is powerful because the songs deliver strong messages about doing right by others. While these messages are universal and can apply to just about anyone, the real target audience is Black youth. Anyone who listens to this album will want to do more than dance, sing and in some instances, cry. Songs like "She Is Love" and "Time For Love" are amazing and uplifting. I also like "My Soul Is Rested", a song that reaches me spiritually.

You will feel empowered to know that doing unto others comes from within. This is a positive album with good energy, vibes and true "make meaning" message. If you have any of The Sounds of Blackness' previous albums, you'll love this one. It's up there with CeCe Winans' "Throne Room" and Kirk Franklin's "Fight Of My Life." Enjoy and God Bless."
