One hears hints of many of the greats, from the airy lyricism of Joni Mitchell to the phrasing of Ella Fitzgerald to the smoky romanticism of Norah Jones and Natalie Merchant, but the sound is all her own. What an awesome surprise!

"I saw Sonya Kitchell in concert as an opening act for Susan Tedeschi and the audience was barely paying attention as we were seated. Within minutes, Sonya had capitivated the audience and people started paying attention and the idle chatter quickly hushed. You knew you were hearing something special. With a quiet but demure demeanor she drew the audience in until the final tune of her set had the audience singing along to "Fly Away". Each song on this album shows a little different aspect to her talent, and I love each song. I have had her CD on repeat for about two weeks now and people comment on her music no matter how low it is played. She can do jazz, she can do the blues, she can do anything she puts her mind to doing.

I get excited when I "find" a new musician, and though she has been around a bit, I feel like I found her. She is an exciting new singer/songwriter who can play her instrument and captivate with her voice and style."

"I saw Sonya at Austins SXSW and it was an awsome performance. Right after the performance i went out and bought her cd. You need to pick this up. It is an awsome cd for young and old. Joni fans will love this cd. Go on check her out."
