Norma Gentile, sound shaman, sings healing chants and songs from Spirit accompanied by Tibetan Singing Bowls, Schruti Box, Guitar-Tambura, and Tibetan Flute. Recorded in live healing concerts, this CD is designed to guide the listener into a deeply meditative state and release what no longer serves the soul s journey. A choir of Tibetan Bowls supplies harmonic tones for several chants, while the guttural reedy drone of an Indian Schruti box underpins others. Norma s voice dances with the unusual modal tuning of an antique Tibetan wooden flute, while her solo voice echoes through the sacred space of a cathedral in other chants.. Most of the songs are improvisations, drawn through Norma from Spirit in the heat of live concerts. Three are chants written by Hildegard of Bingen nearly 900-years-ago.
