Who's that man? Slim Man!
07/31/2000
(5 out of 5 stars)

"Slim Man-This is it! I have found that voice, that impeccable groove, and sexual vibe, all from a man that looks like Buddy Holly! I can't stop listening to his CD "jazzified". Lyrics that melt in the mouth, a bass line that makes your head slide from side to side, and a tasty, understated arrangement of live and electronic drums and synths to broaden the accents of acoustic guitars, tenor and alto saxophones, and silky tenor vocals. His talent is undeniable, and I'm not the only one to think so. Strictly Jazz calls him "refreshingly original" and Gavin hails him as "smooth jazz at its best." As if critical acclaim isn't enough, fellow artists also take to his style of vocal healing judging by his list of guest appearances with such proprietors of sexual, soulful jazz as Candy Dulfer, Al Jarreau, Fourplay, and Grover Washington Jr, just to name a brief few. Slim Man has a vocal style that has earned him the reputation of being suave, debonair, sultry and poised. Feelings and profound emotions pour through the impassioned lyrics on Jazzified. Slim Man strikes each chord with fabulous melodies to support the meaning of the words. I truly believe that this album is his best work done to date. Jazzified has some fantastic guest artists: Marc Antoine, Ken Navarro and Joe Ercole. The saxophone player Kevin Levi really adds a sophisticated flavor to the overall quality of the production. Each of the musicians surrounds Slim Man with the necessary essentials to accentuate his vocal dexterity and bass playing. Not many male singers out there can ravish the audience with romantic lyrics and sophisticated tuneful delivery as well as backing it up with compelling instrumentalists. Who's that man? The answer is.. Slim Man."
