"I've been a fan of the Skirts for a while, but this latest album from them is one that really should have put them into the mainstream. It's a wicked mix of pop and rock with a hint of punk -- something akin to throwing Veruca Salt, Letters to Cleo, and Fuzzbox into a blender and getting something that's got a voice all of its own. Admittedly, it took a few spins to appreciate the clever lyrics, but now it's a fixture in my CD player. Top tracks are the pop opener "I Can't Wait" and the harder-edged rockers "Lonely" and "Seesaw". Their previous album "Take Off" is terrific as well (it contains the incredible track "Snapshot") but I'd say "Smashing the Sky" is the perfect intro to a group that only seems to be getting better with each release."
