"The Skillet Lickers were one of the most important old time string bands to record. Featuring the diverse talents of fiddlers Gid Tanner and Clayton McMichen and guitarist/vocalist Riley Puckett, the band waxed important musical pieces and humorous sketches, such as "Prohibition Yes or No" which strongly presented Southern male views on issues of the day. The Document series is the first full scale reissue of their important catalog and is essential to any Country Music collection."
