This cd is a magnificent example of the "serious side" of the music of SIVUCA. All of the tracks feature the unheralded Joao Lyra on guitar/violao and showcase the melodic jazz style improvisations of Sivuca- he is a master improviser on par w/ any American jazz musician! If you have heard the "ITALIAN FRENCHMAN", RICHARD GALLIANO, and enjoy his style, this cd is "right up your alley"! You will not be dissatisfied w/ this contribution to Musica Instrumental Brasileira in the least ! un abraco,Sivuca ! 1" There is no finer example to good brazilian music. It is definitely one of the best CDs if not THE best CD I ever heard. It's just so brilliantly conceived. The musicians are a quartet of prodigious musicians. Hats off to João Lyra in particular, who plays his guitar with technique and sentimentality fused in a perfect combination. Fernando Pereira's drums, especially on the last track, illustrate brazilian's best known rhythm: Samba. If you want to see just how good Brazilian music can get, get this CD. If I were to point out the highlights of it, I'd say tracks 1-12. The whole CD is beautiful, absolutely priceless. Vintage Sivuca. Obrigado mestre."
