Album Description

2009 digitally remastered and expanded digipak edition of this classic Banshees album from 1986 featuring four bonus tracks including the Extended Version of 'Cities In Dust' and three previously unreleased tracks: the Chris Kimsey version of 'Sweetest Chill' and the JVC versions of 'Starcrossed Lovers' and 'Song From The Edge of the World'. Siouxsie & The Banshees began life as a Punk outfit (with Sid Vicious on drums, no less!) before mutating into Post-Punkers on their way to becoming one of the most influential Goth Rock band on the scene. To this day, over 10 years after their disintegration, the band's fanatical fan base continues to grow. Universal.

Incredible remastering of a great album

"I'm not a huge Siouxsie and the Banshees fan, but this is definitely my favorite album of theirs--lush, beautiful and over the top, with Siouxsie's voice in probably the best form ever (aside from her work with the Creatures). The new remastering is a revelation--amazing detail, louder (but not too loud), and the vocals seem more prominent. It was almost like hearing a new album. The bonus tracks are mostly different from those on the old CD (I think the "Cities in Dust" remix is the same one, but much better in the remaster). It's nice to have "Song from the Edge of the World" (I wish they'd do that EP as a remastered CD), and "Starcrossed" is an okay demo that I had never heard before. The real "bonus" is the remix of "The Sweetest Chill", which is an excellent remix of my favorite song from the album. Even if you have the old "Tinderbox" CD, get this one--it's worth it!"

"If you own any of the previous releases of this album, it sounds pretty much the same, except a little clearer, and a bit louder. I bought this one to complete my SATB library of remasters. The first bonus-track is just a remix. The other 2 bonus-tracks sound fairly similar to the single versions, and are kind of interesting and not too bad. However, the real jewel for all SATB fans is the final bonus track on this album, "Starcrossed Lovers". It's a great example of the band in their prime, and Siouxsie's voice sounds amazing on this one, as she's not singing in her usual style. I recommend this remaster for the hardcore SATB fan, and anyone who likes a good pop-rock album that still stands the test of time."
