"This 6 CD box contains 3 extremely rare and often forgotten gems in the discography of Maria Callas.

I suppose the only reason why these treasures are unknown is just because EMI does not have the copyright license.



In CD 1 you have the 3 legendary arias she recorded in 1949, when she was only 26 year old. The arias are presented in chronollogical order: Isolde's final scene, the mad scene from I puritani and Norma's Casta Diva with the cabaletta.



In Cd's 2-3-4 you have the 1952 La Gioconda, the very first complete opera Callas ever recorded under the direction of maestro Votto and acompanied by the young Barbieri.



In CD's 5-6 you have the 1953 Traviata, the only studio recording she ever made of this opera!



It is well known Callas sung these two roles with a much deeper and refined psychological approach later on her carear but the vocal miracle you can hear in this CD's is beyond any description.



Here you can listen by yourself the voice that changed the story of opera forever in her very prime.
